If women want to protect themselves from pregnancy various contraceptive methods are available. Good counselling is indispensable to together one method at find the one that best fits the woman fits. But what do you do when this freedom of choice is limited by the presence of a contraindication? Wat makes certain contraceptive methods less suitable or even advised against in case of certain contraindications? Titus Health Care is organising a new accredited training course for gynaecologists and physician assistants entitled: Contraception Wanted: choice in contraindications.
What can I expect?
Which contraceptive methods are suitable for someone with high blood pressure or thromboembolic disease? What is the best choice for women with migraines or diabetes? The accredited training for gynaecologists Contraception Wanted: choice in contraindications spends on the basis of the Medical Eligibility Criteria Wheel for contraceptive use of the WHO focus on contraceptive choices for women with contraindications or co-morbidities.
In addition to the WHO's recommendations, the scientific publications that underpin these recommendations are explored in depth. The training challenges participants to think about how they can apply this knowledge in daily practice.
Finally, this training encourages cooperation between primary and secondary care. Within the hospital, consultation between different specialisations is encouraged in order to jointly find the best suitable contraceptive method when contraindications are present.
