Start spiral placement midwives
Are you an obstetrician and want to start placing spirals? The following three steps are required to become proficient in spiral placement:
- E-learning contraception
- Contraception training (theory and skill) - the Contraception Skills Training of Titus Health Care has been approved by KNOV for this step in preparation for in vivo training.
- In vivo training
Please note that these three steps apply if you graduated before 2017. For midwives who graduated from 2017 onwards, the first two steps are integrated into the curriculum of the programme. If you then take the in vivo training within three years of graduation, you are competent to place spirals. If you graduated more than three years ago, you still need to follow all three steps to become competent in placing spirals. More information can be found on the website of the KNOV.
