The Learning package Sex & Contraception has been specially developed to provide an accessible and interactive lesson on contraception in upper secondary school classes. Developed in collaboration with Rutgers.
For whom is the teaching package intended?
The Learning package Sex & Contraception is designed to support lessons on contraception in upper secondary school classes. Both teachers and guest lecturers can use this package. Subsidies are sometimes available for schools to hire guest lecturers. For example, via the Incentive scheme Healthy Relationships & Sexuality of Healthy School.
What's in it Learning package Sex & Contraception?
The Learning package Sex & Contraception consists of:
- Cover letter.
Instruction and handouts - PowerPoint presentation.
With questions to discuss with the class, for example about responsibilities around contraception. In addition, a short summary of the most common contraceptive methods to support other lesson components. - Information pocket cards.
All pupils can participate and compete (anonymously) against each other. A good method to measure the level of knowledge in a low-threshold way. - Cycle cards.
To support explanations of the menstrual cycle and fertility. - Demonstration materials.
Demonstration materials such as a copper IUD, hormone IUD, implantation rod and leaflets
A note for teachers is enclosed with the teaching pack.
Guest lecturers on contraception
Secondary school teachers can use the teaching pack to prepare their own lesson on contraception. It is also possible to hire a guest teacher for this. Subsidies are available for this, for example through the Incentive scheme Healthy Relationships & Sexuality of Healthy School. Tip: In recent years, more and more midwives have specialised in contraception care. Many midwives provide regular information, including at secondary schools.
