IUD placement

Flexi-T is easily placed by a GP, midwife or gynaecologist. Retrieved from spiralplaces.co.uk you will find more information. It is important to be sure before insertion that you cannot be pregnant and do not have an STI. If you doubt whether you have been at risk of an STI, discuss this with your healthcare provider or order the self-test.

Aftercare and menstrual cups

Schedule a physical follow-up check 6 weeks after IUD insertion. You can discuss any complaints and the healthcare provider will check if the IUD is properly in place. Research has shown that women are more likely to lose their IUDs when using a menstrual cup. The advice is therefore not to use a menstrual cup in combination with an IUD. If you do want to use a menstrual cup, do so only three months after insertion. Break the vacuum before removing the cup and always check that the coil is not in the cup.
